New to chiropractic care?

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first visit at Back in Action Chiropractic Center is designed to help us understand your concerns, evaluate your health, and determine whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for you.

We want you to feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout the entire process.

Five steps

From the first conversation to your plan

Read on and watch the spine come into line.

  1. Health History and Consultation

Your visit begins with a conversation about what brings you to our office.

We will review your health history, current symptoms, previous injuries, lifestyle, and any treatment or testing you have already received.

    You may be asked about:

    • Current symptoms and when they began
    • Previous injuries or surgeries
    • Existing medical conditions
    • Medications you are currently taking
    • Previous diagnoses
    • X-rays, MRI, CT scans, or other imaging
    • Allergies
    • Activity level
    • Work and daily routines
    • Nutrition and exercise habits
    • Sleep patterns
    • Your personal health goals

The more information we have, the better we can understand your situation and determine the most appropriate next steps. The existing new-patient page also encourages patients to bring relevant medical records and prior imaging when available. Back In Action Chiropractic Center LLC

  2. Chiropractic Examination

After reviewing your health history, Dr. Hansen will perform an examination based on your symptoms and individual needs.

    Your examination may include:

    Range of Motion Testing

Evaluating how comfortably and fully you can move through different positions.

    Postural Evaluation

Looking at how your body and spine are positioned while standing, sitting, or moving.

    Strength Testing

Evaluating muscle function and identifying areas of weakness, tension, or discomfort.

    Neurological or Reflex Testing

When appropriate, reflexes and other neurological responses may be evaluated.

    Palpation

Dr. Hansen may examine muscles, joints, and surrounding tissues by hand to identify areas of tenderness, restriction, tension, or abnormal movement.

The specific examination procedures will vary depending on your condition.

  3. Digital X-Rays When Clinically Indicated

    Not every patient requires X-rays.

When imaging is clinically appropriate, digital X-rays may be recommended to provide additional information about spinal structure, previous injuries, degeneration, or other findings that may influence your care.

If you already have recent imaging or diagnostic reports, bring them with you whenever possible.

  4. Review of Findings

Once the necessary information has been gathered, Dr. Hansen will review your findings and explain what they may mean for your condition.

This is your opportunity to ask questions and better understand:

    • What may be contributing to your symptoms
    • Whether chiropractic care may be appropriate
    • Which treatments may be recommended
    • What your care plan could involve
    • Your short- and long-term goals
  5. Personalized Care Recommendations

If chiropractic care is appropriate for your condition, Dr. Hansen will discuss a personalized treatment plan based on your examination findings, health history, and goals.

Your recommendations may include chiropractic adjustments as well as supportive services such as:

    • Spinal decompression therapy
    • Corrective exercises
    • Class IV laser therapy
    • Red light therapy
    • Nutritional therapy
    • Lifestyle recommendations

If another healthcare provider or specialist would be more appropriate for your condition, a referral may be recommended. The existing page specifically notes that referrals may be made when a patient’s situation calls for additional specialist care. Back In Action Chiropractic Center LLC

Our Goal Is to Make Your First Visit Easy
