A careful approach to head pain

Headache and Migraine Chiropractic Care in De Pere, WI

Headaches and migraines can disrupt work, family time, sleep, and your ability to enjoy the day. Because head pain can have many possible causes, a careful history and attention to warning signs are essential before considering conservative chiropractic care.

At Back In Action Chiropractic Center, Dr. Steven Hansen listens to your symptom pattern, health history, and goals. We help determine whether a conservative approach may be appropriate or whether your symptoms call for medical evaluation first.

Headaches Need Individual Evaluation

Headache is a symptom, while migraine is a neurological condition that can include symptoms beyond head pain. Tension-type, cervicogenic, migraine, and other headaches can feel different and may need different kinds of care.

Neck pain and muscle tension may accompany some headaches, while migraine needs its own medical care plan. A consultation helps clarify whether conservative chiropractic care may have a role within your broader healthcare plan.

Your questions, your goals

What We May Review

Your history provides important context. At a consultation, we may review:

  • The pattern and timing of symptoms
  • Headache or migraine diagnoses
  • Neck discomfort or movement concerns
  • Symptoms after an injury
  • Current medications and prior treatment
  • How symptoms affect everyday life

A sudden severe headache, symptoms after a head injury, fever or stiff neck, confusion, weakness, speech or vision changes, or loss of consciousness needs urgent medical evaluation. These symptoms should not wait for a routine appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Headaches & Migraines FAQs

Can chiropractic care cure migraines?

No. Migraine is a neurological condition, and chiropractic care is not a cure. If neck stiffness or muscle discomfort accompanies your headaches, a consultation can help determine whether conservative care may have a supportive role alongside your medical treatment.

What information should I bring?

Bring a list of symptoms, when they began, any triggers you have noticed, current medications, past imaging, and previous diagnoses or treatments.

Do you evaluate headaches after an injury?

Tell the office how the injury occurred. A new headache after a head or neck injury needs careful triage, and concerning symptoms need urgent medical care.

What symptoms need urgent medical care?

Sudden severe headache, confusion, weakness, speech or vision changes, stiff neck with fever, loss of consciousness, or headache after significant trauma need urgent evaluation.

Will I need imaging?

Imaging is not automatic. The clinician reviews your history and examination and may recommend medical evaluation or imaging when indicated.

Will I receive treatment at my first visit?

The first priority is an appropriate evaluation. If conservative chiropractic care is suitable, Dr. Hansen will explain the proposed approach before treatment begins.
